Gypsy Chicks

This proposal is a series of sculptures to be installed in the outdoor garden of Key West City Hall; at the corner of White & Seminary Street. The sculpture is a playful take on the ‘gypsy chickens’ that roam around the island. Each ‘chicken’ is 2 feet tall and challenges the idea of scale and proportion. They exist at a scale that allows for interaction between children, adults and even the existing chickens.

This sculptural piece will serve as a historic and environmental reference to the islands. The chickens have been a part of the Key’s wildlife since the 1800’s making them a renowned character at the Florida Key’s. The sculpture will symbolize this without the ‘nuisance’ of live chickens.
